From the first concert in July 1997 until the end of 2009, Cantique has given 58 concerts which have raised around £32,000 for charities and other good causes. Concert venues include Farnham, Fleet, Odiham, Chawton, Wield, Churt, Farnborough, Alton, Bentley, Newnham, Farringdon, Horsham and Frensham. In 2008 alone, Cantique concerts helped to raise nearly £4,000, and in 2009 around £2,000 was raised in just two concerts
Our repertoire extends from William Byrd to modern composers such as Richard Rodney Bennet, John Rutter and Lennox Berkeley, and we also have sung numbers by the Beatles.
Some of our members also compose and arrange, and most of our concerts since we began have included one or more pieces by members of the choir.
Cantique does not make any charge for giving concerts, but we are always happy to receive donations and any money we are given goes to purchase music to extend our repertoire or booking rehearsal space. No member of Cantique receives any income from the choir.
